Review: Mustela Stelatopia Range - Skincare for babies and toddlers with Dry Skin

Where it comes to matters concerning Kaitlin, I'll admit that I can get pretty fastidious about the food she consumes, hygiene matters and especially the products that we use on her.

I'll make it a point to always read up about the products, do the usual Google search and read reviews about the product before actually letting her use it.

Since Kaitlin has slight eczema, I am very careful with the skincare products that we use on her. She'll be scratching during day time and will tell us about how itchy it is. At times, she'll even cry about it and get cranky. The worst is how it disturbs her slumber at night.

Despite using the prescribed steroid creams from our paediatrician, Kaitlin's eczema problem still exists, and when they flare up it can get pretty bad. That's why besides the creams, I have also tried different skin care products on her. In fact we've already tried out four different baby/toddler body soap brands on her. Her condition has improved slightly with the change of soaps and creams, but I'm still on the lookout for any other products that might improve her skin condition and help soothe the itchiness.

When Mustela sent over their Stelatopia range of products, I couldn't wait to let Kaitlin give it a try. Afterall, Mustela has been a trusted brand that moms have been using on their babies and toddlers.

In case you didn't know, Mustela products are hypoallergenic and contain no parabens, phenoxyethanol, phthalates or alcohol, which makes it safe for even newborns with the most delicate skin.

The Mustela Stelatopia range has been specially designed for newborns and toddlers who have atopic dermatitis. The great thing about this range is that sunflower distillate oil which has a rich content of Vitamin E and essential fatty acids with antioxidant, nourishing, firming and regenerating properties is included.

Kaitlin herself was excited to try out the new bodycare products when I showed them to her!

For the past two weeks, we've been using the Mustela Stelatopia Cleansing Cream whenever we give Kaitlin a shower. At the least, that's two times a day. I like how the practical pump dispenser makes it easy for Kaitlin to soap herself. Besides that, I noticed that the cleansing cream has no strong scents which makes me feel at ease that the product does not contain perfumes which might irritate her already dry skin. This product contains sunflower oil distillate which soothes the skin.

Right after Kaitlin's shower I will immediately moisturize her skin with the Stelatopia Emollient Cream. According to dermatologists, the best time to apply moisturizer is right after a bath as the product would be able to trap some of the water still on the body and use it to hydrate the skin. Kaitlin likes doing it herself as well and would remind us to do it when we are changing her.

I like how the texture of the emollient cream is smooth and does not sting Kaitlin's skin unlike some other products we have used. It moisturizes her skin leaving it supple and yet does not have a sticky after-feel which can get pretty uncomfortable especially in our humid weather. This product contains both sunflower oil distillate and plum oil which softens the skin.

Before we started using the Mustela products, Kaitlin had frequent eczema flare ups on parts of her skin, such as the back of her knees. I applied the Stelatria Purifying Recovery Cream on her skin two to three times a day and noticed a reduce in skin irritation and an improvement in her skin appearance.

Overall, I'm pretty impressed with the Mustela Stelatopia range. Within the two weeks that we tried the products, Kaitlin's skin condition has improved. Her eczema problem still exists, but it is definitely more controlled with lesser flare ups and we've also noticed that the itchiness has reduced.

Seeing the results thus far, I do think that using the products over a prolonged period of time would have more effective results on her skin. Moreover, I do like how the products are safe and contain natural ingredients.

Having had pretty bad eczema when I was young and even with occasional flare ups now, I do understand how frustrating eczema can be as there is no real cure. As such, for reduced irritations and itching, and a reduction in skin dryness I do recommend giving the Mustela Stelatopia range a try.

NIVEA Body UV Whitening Serum - 14-Day Challenge Results

It's been exactly 14 days since I started using the NIVEA Body UV Whitening Serum and I've to admit that there have been some good results! My skin condition has not had completely improved but it's definitely getting better.

In the past 14 days, I've been going about doing the usuals - looking after Kaitlin, running errands, going out to the malls, and when the weather's good, we've also been spending time outdoors like at the pool and Botanics. In fact I actually go out alot and have to walk quite a distance under the sun just to get to the bus stop or MRT station, so my skin is almost always exposed to the Sun's harmful UV rays.

I've been applying the NIVEA Body UV Whitening Serum on my arms and legs everyday before I step out of the house. In order to make sure that the results were based solely on the serum, I did not apply any other skincare products on my arms and legs during the last 14 days. Here are the results:

As you can see from the photos, my skin is not as dull as before and is in fact showing signs of whitening and brightening thanks to the serum that has been enriched with 95% Pure Vitamin C from Camu Camu as well as Licorice, Hydra IQ and Red Seaweed.

In case you didn't know Vitamin C is actually a powerful anti-oxidant which repairs and restores sun damaged skin cells and reduces melanin production. As a result, my skintone is not as uneven as before and also doesn't feel as dry and rough.

Priced affordably at $9.55, one would question the effectiveness of the product..well I'll admit that I  did question it, and here I am to assure you that the serum did work for my skin! I initially thought that it would take a much longer time for my skin to start showing signs of improvement but I'm really happy that in just 14 days, there have been such visible results. What's more the light-weight texture is really a bonus as I really dislike applying skin care products that leave a sticky after feel, especially in our humid weather. Not forgetting, it provides SPF 25 PA++ protection.

I personally find it an all-in-one moisturizer as it repairs and improves my skin condition, whitens it and at the same time provides SPF protection. All I need to do is spend a few minutes every morning applying it and I can be sure that my skin will stay hydrated and protected throughout the day.

The visible improvement serves as a great encouragement for me to use the serum regularly, and I recommend you to try it out as well and soon we'll all be on our way to fairer, smoother and more radiant skin. Remember it's never too early or too late to start caring about your skin!

NIVEA Body UV Whitening Serum - 14-Day Challenge Accepted!

Even before I had Kaitlin, I've to admit that I was never the kind to buy skincare products and then religiously use them. I did go through the phase of buying a few different products, but I never really stuck to them as I simply got lazy. They all just got dumped in the end.

However, after I gave birth, I paid more attention to my body and my skin. Normally, most moms wouldn't even have time to bother about this or were simply too tired from all the mother duties to even care. Well, I definitely was tired, but I did care about appearances. I sound so vain, but seriously how not to bother, when the rest of your peers are looking awesome, and you just look like you haven't slept in months with eye bags the size of Russia and skin so dry you start getting envious of your baby's soft skin!

Well, to be more precise, it was after I got used to life with Kaitlin around that I actually got down to doing something about it. Having a baby made such a huge difference in our lives, that even though I did care about my body and skin, my baby was still my number one priority. So when I started getting use to the routine of taking care of K, and I decided to forgo some precious sleep time, did I start to read about all the harmful effects of the sun's rays on my skin and how to better protect my face.

I never really bothered about the skin on my body, because hey, honestly dealing with the skincare regime on my face can already be quite a drag I couldn't find more time and effort to care about my body.

Luckily though, NIVEA recently sent over their NIVEA Body UV Whitening Serum with SPF 25 PA++ , and this served as a great reminder that I better stop being so lazy and start protecting the skin on my body as well! Afterall prevention (e.g. dry skin)  is better than cure (e.g. peeling skin) and it's always good to start early!

There are 10 signs of dull and sun damaged skin:

and well my skin happens to dry and show signs of being rough, uneven and dull. Now seriously, looking through the list made me even more determined to do something about my skin. I don't want to age faster, and have people mistake me to be older than what I really am! I'm sure if I continue to not care about it I'll be checking off more the signs of sun damage in the list above, and worse, having to deal with pigmentation.

I'm excited to try out the NIVEA Body UV Whitening Serum as it is the first ever body whitening serum with SPF 25 PA++, offering daily sun protection to prevent sun damage and skin darkening. If it really can protect your skin yet at the same time whiten it, how not to love?! It's like every woman's dream to have fair and smooth skin right? So here it goes, I'm going to start on the NIVEA 14-Day Challenge!

That's my skin on Day 1!

On application on my arms and legs, the serum was smooth and lightweight! Very easy to apply and it's great that there was none of that icky sticky feeling. That's usually a good indication that the product is absorbed efficiently into the skin. Also, the humidity in Singapore is already bad enough, so it's good that I don't have to deal with feeling sticky especially when I've got a long day ahead of me being out and about and doing lots of chasing after Kaitlin.

The NIVEA Body UV Whitening Serum with SPF 25++ is priced affordably at SGD$9.55. Having used it for the first time I'm so far happy with it. I can't wait for Day 14 to see if I can achieve fairer, smoother and more radiant skin so stay tuned for an update in two weeks time.
